One of the big questions going into the offseason is what happens next with restricted free\u002Dagent winger Alex DeBrincat.
Senators general manager Pierre Dorion told defenceman Nick Holden that he wouldn’t be brought back for the 2023-24 season.Holden won’t be the only one that leaves. It’s expected that unrestricted free-agent goaltender Cam Talbot and winger Austin Watson won’t be back, either, though the door isn’t completely shut on them.
“I’m definitely open to anything,” DeBrincat said. “I’m going to sit down with my family, my agent , over the next couple of weeks and months to figure out what the best thing is for us as a family and try to figure that out. But I’m definitely open to anything.”Article content “Coming to a new team is a little bit different,” said DeBrincat, a two-time 40-goal scorer acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks last July. “I felt they welcomed me pretty easily, but on the ice it didn’t translate the way I wanted to. There was an adjustment period.”
“I just wish I was able to do a little bit more. I was just never able to stay healthy enough to make a big enough impact,” Talbot said. “Looking back at the season, I wanted to come here and help this team make the playoffs.
