Davao City Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte assumed the position of acting president of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) party

Davao City Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte assumed the position of acting president of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan party after incumbent president Senator Robin Padilla took a leave of absence from the organization.
In a press statement released on Monday, the PDP Laban said Padilla decided to step away from party leadership duties to focus on legislative matters in the 20Baste Duterte is the PDP Laban executive vice president, who automatically succeeds Padilla, based on the party’s rule of succession. He will also most likely stay as Davao City’s top executive since his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who was elected mayor is detained in The Hague.
“Sen. Padilla said that he has given his all in campaigning for the party’s candidates in the recently concluded May 2025 polls, and it is now time for him to focus on his duties as a legislator and push for the party’s legislative agenda in the forthcoming 20th Congress,” PDP Laban said. Padilla, nonetheless, assured the party membership that he remains committed to PDP Laban and loyal to the Duterte patriarch, the party chairman.
