Two separate robberies in Rizal and Taguig have been captured on camera, with suspects wearing uniforms resembling those of popular ride-hailing apps. The incidents raise concerns about the potential exploitation of ride-hailing app uniforms for criminal activities. Authorities are investigating the cases and working to enhance security measures.

Two separate robbery incidents caught on camera have revealed suspects wearing uniforms resembling those of popular ride-hailing apps in Rizal and Taguig . According to a '24 Oras' report by Jun Veneracion on Wednesday, CCTV footage captured one suspect breaking into an SUV in San Mateo, Rizal . The suspect was observed shining a flashlight into the vehicle before employing a device to effortlessly shatter the car window and steal a laptop left inside.

The victim, visibly shaken, recounted the ordeal, stating, 'My bag contained a laptop. It was a relief that I had my wallet and cellphone with me.' San Mateo Police are actively investigating the incident and are determined to identify the perpetrator. Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Ilay, the San Mateo Police chief, stated, 'This individual likely engages in this activity regularly. Once we obtain the motorcycle's license plate, we will request assistance for suspect identification.' In another incident, an armed robbery occurred in Barangay Pembo, Taguig, involving a man dressed in what appeared to be a ride-hailing app get-up. CCTV footage showed the suspect brandishing a firearm at a student victim, who fell to the ground. Authorities have received reports of suspects exploiting ride-hailing app uniforms to bypass security checkpoints. They are working to enhance security measures to prevent such incidents. As of now, the ride-hailing app companies implicated based on the suspects' uniforms have yet to release statements, as they are conducting their own investigations into the robbers' identities. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated New
