Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda attributes the steady decrease in rice prices to the progress of the House quinta-committee, particularly the efforts led by Speaker Martin Romualdez. Salceda, lead chairperson of the quinta-comm, highlights the month-on-month and year-on-year decline in rice prices, noting that it's significantly below the overall inflation rate. He points to Romualdez's initiative to compel major rice industry players in Central Luzon to reduce prices. While rice prices show improvement, Salceda emphasizes that the quinta-comm will focus on addressing corn inflation, which has impacted meat prices.

Salceda, lead chairperson of the quinta-comm, says credit is due for the initiatives spearheaded by the House Speaker.

“The problem seems to be corn, as I have persistently pointed out in recent months,” the congressman said.
