THE two major toll operators in Metro Manila will begin implementing fines and penalties for not having a properly functioning RFID when entering toll roads from Oct. 1, 2024 onwards. This comes after Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista ordered the deferral and review of the tollways' performance. The fines are substantial, ranging from P1,000 to P5,000, and cover a wide range of violations. These violations include entering without an RFID or being short of funds when using the tollways.
Moreover, despite the high fees we pay to use these tollways, we still experience significant traffic during rush hour, when we were led to believe the toll roads would speed up travel.Sen. Grace Poe aptly pointed out that toll companies should address their problems first before penalizing motorists for issues that are often due to their own faulty systems.Take a look at the entry and exit points of the SCTEx at Magallanes, Terminal 3, and Quezon Avenue northbound.
