Residents once affected by super typhoon Yolanda in 2013 and tropical storm Sendong in 2011 were reminded of a potential repeat of the same disaster, this time, caused by Typhoon Odette as it batters areas in Visayas and Mindanao.

"A decade ago, Sendong took 1,472 lives in , same as the exact date of Odette's landfall. I am hoping no life will perish for today's calamity," @aldreichlois tweeted Thursday.

Yolanda, on the other hand, left 6,300 dead, 28,689 injured, and 1,061 missing when it battered the country from November 6-9, 2013. Its highest recorded wind signal was at Signal No.4, affecting over 16 million people from 10 regions. Estareja explained that Odette's track is almost similar to that of Yolanda a few years ago, but the latter had a wider eye, affecting more people.
