It might come as a bit of a surprise

It’s not too long before the Mitsubishi Destinator makes its world premiere. Its name is pretty much locked in, and so is its launch date. We can finally see the full details of the upcoming seven-seat crossover once the covers are pulled at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.

Now, a major detail has emerged from Indonesia. According to Otodriver , the Destinator is now available for pre-order over there. Cruicially, there was also a mention of what will power the vehicle.First impressions: There’s a lot more to the 2025 GWM Cannon than just a faceliftIt seems that Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia’s legal department got to the publication, but not before we spotted it. Thankfully, we were able to find that the Destinator will not be powered by the Xpander and XForce’s 1.

That’s probably welcome relief for those worried about the larger seven-seater being underpowered. After all, that 1.5-liter MIVEC makes 103hp and 141Nm which is fine for subcompact models, but might be overtaxed in a larger body. Otodriver claimed that it will instead use a 1.5-liter turbo engine.Surprised? Well, so were we. It’s not just the Xpander and XForce’s engine that’s been slapped on with a turbocharger, either.

If true, the Destinator could have the power it needs for hauling duties. The boosted 4B40 engine produces 161hp and, more importantly, 250Nm. Given that the Destinator is also touted as an Innova Zenix competitor of sorts, those figures sound just right. While it’s a little down on power, it does make up for it in torque.

As always, we’ll get the full picture once the car is revealed, which is on the opening day of GIIAS 2025, July 24, 2025.Read Next MRT, LRT student-discount guide: 2025 fare matrix and how to avail View other articles about:
