THE Philippines has put Gaza under Alert Level 3 amid the prevailing conflict between the Hamas Group and Israel government, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday, October 12, 2023.Alert Level 3 means repatriation of Filipinos in Gaza is now voluntary.The DFA earlier said there were 137 Filipinos in Gaza.DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vera earlier said 70 Filipinos in Gaza were already requesting for repatriations but the problem is that Gaza is under blockade.
Two Filipinos, a 33-year-old female from Pangasinan who was working in Israel for six years, and a 42-year-old male from Pampanga, have been killed amid the Hamas-Israel conflict.Several others were still missing.The Philippine government earlier assured close coordination with Israel authorities to ensure the welfare of the Filipinos there.The conflict sparked after the Hamas group of Palestine militants launched an attack against Israel, particularly in its southern portion, over the weekend.
