A 30-year-old suspect allegedly involved in a “rentangay” scheme was arrested in Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Operatives of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group NCR nabbed the suspect in a nightclub for allegedly violating Republic Act No. 6539 or the Anti-Carnapping Law.“Ito ay matagal nang binabantayan, kasi tumakas ito eh, from Tondo, Manila to Pangasinan,” Police Colonel Neil Francia, Chief of PNP-HPG NCR, said in Emil Sumangil's exclusive “24 Oras” report on Wednesday.
The PNP-HPG issued reminders to the public. “Manghingi kayo ng valid ID, kilalanin niyo talaga. Tapos ang pinakamaganda diyan, lagyan ng GPS,” Francia said. Snatcher nabbed at EDSA BuswayMeanwhile, the PNP-HPG also apprehended a snatcher victimizing passengers at the EDSA Busway. Police said the group behind the crime involved three suspects. One of them would steal the item before dropping it on the floor. Another suspect will pick it up while the other will block the victim.
