Ryan Recososa scored 5.5 points in six rounds to rule the Kagawad Eden Josefina Bonus Rapid Chess Tournament on Sunday, August 27, in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.
The 38-year-old Recososa, who works at a real estate brokerage firm, pocketed the top prize of P4,000.Nixon Reyes, meanwhile, earned the highest tie-break points to place second with 5.0 points. He went home with the P2,000 purse.Eduardo Campos Jr., who also netted 5.0 points, settled for third place honors and the P1,000 prize.Also with 5.0 points are fourth placer Rommel Lucion and fifth placer Aaron Domingo.
The special category winners, who received P500 each, are Aldren Baliwang as the top person with disability , John Paul Mahawan as the top junior player, Arnel Mahawan as the top kiddies player, Jashua Patria as the top student player, Alfredo Chay as the top senior player, Joshua Villa as the top unrated player and Jake Espinosa and Lenal Reyes as the top players from Barangay Holy Spirit.
