PUERTO PRINCESA—After months of dedicated preparation, the ICF Dragon Boat World Championships gets going Thursday at the pristine shores of the Puerto
The Philippine men’s and women’s elite dragon boat teams, alongside national coaches, are shown with guests at a press conference sponsored by Lacoste Watches, marking the 2024 World Dragon Boat Championship kickoff. Among those present were Dr. Wai-Hung Luk, chairman of the ICF Dragon Boat Commission; Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Bayron; Leonora Escollante, president of the Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation; and Thomas Konietzko, president of the International Canoe Federation.
Bayron also emphasized the significance of the event’s record-breaking participation, expressing his gratitude to the ICF for entrusting Puerto Princesa with this prestigious opportunity. “With their assistance, we’re able to host this milestone championship, which serves as the primary qualifier for next year’s World Games in Chengdu, China,” she said.
