Leadership in the NHL comes in many different forms.

“It’s kind of a boring answer, obviously, but it’s day-to-day,” Andersson said. “Even if you’re tired mentally, still show up mentally for work the next day. If you got in late, still play good the next game. That kind of stuff. Get the push going when we need to and try to have fun.”

His 49 points were tops among Flames defencemen and sixth-most on the entire team.

“I think the one thing with Ras, he has kind of grown up within the organization, which I think is awesome,” Flames head coach Ryan Huska said. “He is really committed to being here and being a Calgary Flame and he also is one of our better players when you look at what he does for our team on the ice he plays in all situations, he is a voice in our dressing room without a doubt and I think he’s kind of grown into that role.
