THE management team of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit will try to meet its target timeline despite the issue surrounding the ownership of the skywalk across the Cebu Normal University and the skywalk near the Fuente Osmeña Circle along Osmeña Blvd., which need to be demolished to give way to the project.

Imbong told SunStar Cebu on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, he will ask the contractor to proceed with other CBRT works pending the approval of the demolition of the skywalks.CBRT project manager’s request He also stated that his office has been coordinating with various government offices for several months now to determine the owner of the skywalks, but his office has only secured a letter of no objection for the demolition from the council, dated May 3, and the DPWH 7, dated July 14; while the DPWH Cebu City District Engineering Office, Department of General Services, and Local Government Audit Sector issued a certificate of no records about the skywalks’ ownership.

Gealon said the CLO should render its legal opinion since the mayor’s office already claimed ownership of the skywalks. “Now that they have no documents, they are coming to us. Kung naay audit sa COA, it’s the members of the council ang ma-sue ,” said Pesquera.
