Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has completed all pending financial assistance distribution to more than 4,500 families, who were fire victims from January to July 2019.
To recall, Belmonte on Thursday led the distribution of cash aid to 1,188 families from 14 barangays–the last batch of indigent fire victims who have yet to receive the city government’s financial support.
“Kahit na anim na buwan nang nakalipas matapos ang sunog na nangyari sa mga bahay-bahay ninyo, nais pa rin namin iparating ang tulong na ito ,” Belmonte said. Before she assumed office on July 1, there were more than 4,300 families, who have yet to receive monetary assistance from the city government.
In less a month, Belmonte has already provided financial assistance to a total of 4,573 families, including fire victims earlier this month. The 269 families, who lost their homes to fire in July, were able to receive financial assistance within three to five days after verification by the city’s Social Services Development Department. She also vowed immediate release of aid to calamity and disaster victims.
