Greens Senator Barbara Pocock asks former PwC Australia CEO Luke Sayers if he feels ashamed of what happened during his time as leader of the firm. “Are you ashamed of what happened on your watch at PWC?” Pocock asks. “And the many lives it is so negatively affected and what do you intend to do to make things better?” Sayers replies: “Senators, as I said in my opening remarks, I’m incredibly sorry. And between 2012 and 2020 I was the accountable CEO.
” Pocock rejects the “bad actor” argument, telling Sayers he “must face up to the culture that your leadership left this firm “. Sayers: “With all due respect Senator, can I finish what I was saying? The bottom line is there a number of bad actor tax partners, those tax partners made choices to be very clear about this. “The confidential information that was shared – the date – which is egregious, wrong, should never have happened.
