The government’s People’s Television Network will temporarily go off the air on Sunday to disinfect the premises after one of its staff tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement released Wednesday , PTV said it is now implementing “stricter and comprehensive health protocols” after the employee, who has been remotely working for some weeks, tested positive for the virus on July 6. The state broadcaster gave the assurance that the staffer is now under proper monitoring and treatment.
“Meantime, despite the employee’s non-appearance in the station’s premises for weeks, network management has decided to implement testing on all its employees and to send home majority of its personnel, keeping only the barest minimum staffing in the office headquarters, to give way to heightened disinfection and sanitation of the facility,” it said.
PTV will continue to deliver news through its Twitter and Facebook accounts. The network will return on air on Monday .
