The meeting will focus on preparations for a potential eruption and the situation at evacuation centers.
The provincial government, in collaboration with the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and other relevant agencies, will convene today to deliberate on a long-term strategy and preparations for Kanlaon Volcano , given the persistent threat of a magmatic eruption. Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz confirmed the meeting. Diaz stated that the meeting will also encompass an assessment of the prevailing circumstances at the evacuation centers.
Previously, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson underscored the imperative for a comprehensive evacuation plan to aid families potentially impacted by the eruption of Kanlaon. Diaz further mentioned that the province's Community Kitchen Program for Kanlaon evacuees has concluded. Under an agreement between the province and the affected localities, the Community Kitchen supplied nutritious meals for up to 14 days for 10,000 evacuees. Local government units (LGUs) and evacuees have expressed contentment with the provided food. Looking ahead, the localities will need to utilize their Quick Response Fund for 2025 to sustain ongoing endeavors
