Pro and anti-Marcos protesters have gathered at Plaza Miranda in Quiapo, Manila on Wednesday, Sept. 21, as the country marked the 50th anniversary of the Martial Law declaration.

In a report from CNN Philippines, pro- and anti-Marcos protesters were allowed inside the vicinity of Plaza Miranda but were later escorted outside to avoid disturbance in church activities.

The Manila Police District said it advised the rallyists to head to Liwasang Bonifacio to continue their protest actions. Around 220 police personnel have been deployed in the area in anticipation of the expected various activities, the report said.Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna had earlier ordered the deployment of Civil Disturbance Management personnel, fire trucks, and other emergency units at Plaza Miranda and Mendiola for the 50th anniversary of Martial Law declaration.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, in a Facebook post, also assured that its medical team are on standby along Recto Ave. Mendiola St. to maintain peace and order in the area.
