Labor leader Chris Minns is accused of being intimidated by the NSW clubs lobby over banning cash from poker machines.

Mr Costello, the executive director of Micah Australia, a Christian social justice lobby group, said the NSW Labor Party may have been intimidated by the success of poker machine operators in 2010, when then-federal Labor leader Julia Gillard refused to impose betting limits on their machines. Independent MP Andrew Wilkie later withdrew his support for Ms Gillard’s government over the decision.
“Stop listening to the hollow threats of Josh Landis and the AHA [Australian Hotels Association] that ‘we defeated Gillard in 2010’,” he said. “Thirteen years later the public mood towards pokies reform has dramatically changed.” Polls show the Coalition trailing the Labor Party in the election, which is scheduled for March 25. Labor needs 11 seats for a majority, which would be achieved with a uniform 6.3 per cent swing.
