Mayor Leonardo C. Pattung has ordered a pre-emptive evacuation of Barangay Taytay residents amid looming danger in landslide-prone areas here.

BAGGAO, Cagayan – – The preemptive evacuation was conducted by the Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office together with the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and allied offices from the office of Provincial Governor Manuel Mamba.

The evacuation became all the more necessary as the MDRRM Office noticed a sudden increase of water level in Taytay-San Isidro Bridge.Small vehicles were not allowed to pass the area. Based on Pagasa advisory issued at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, ‘Neneng’ has intensified into a tropical storm as it accelerated westward over the Philippine Sea east of extreme Northern Luzon.

The state’s weather bureau warned of heavy to intense with at times torrential rains over Batanes and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands. Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains are expected over Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and Ilocos Norte, and light to moderate with at times heavy rains over the northern portion of Isabela and the rest of Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region are expected.
