The Professional Regulation Commission successfully conducted 61 licensure examinations in 2021 amid COVID-19 pandemic.

However, PRC noted that due to government-imposed restrictions, including extended community quarantine declarations to mitigate the spread of the virus, several licensure exams were postponed.

“The PRC, with its desire to help the country augment the shortage of health care professionals attending to COVID-19 cases and ultimately meet the demand for a steady supply of professionals, submitted its proposal to Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to resume the conduct of various licensure examinations,” PRC said.

“As the IATF-MEID in the first quarter of 2021 approved the conduct of licensure examinations, the PRC continued to dialogue with the Task Force and proved its capacity and readiness to conduct examinations while observing the strict health protocols as approved by the Department of Health,” it added.

PRC also noted that from January to December 2021, it gathered a total of 143,680 examinees resulting in a total of 69,312 passers.
