By 6 a.m. Christmas Eve, Nova Scotia Power had power restored to about 75 per cent.
High winds were the cause of the outages and reached 115 km/hour in some parts of Nova Scotia. They can can also hinder restoration times as it is unsafe for crews to work when winds gust 80 km/hour or highers. Customers can report outages and get estimated restoration times online at outagemap.nspower.ca or by calling 1-877-428-6004.
