Portion of Davao City coastal road project set to be opened this month

– The Department of Public Works and Highways -Davao Region targets to open the first 2.7-kilometer section of the Davao City Coastal Road Project to motorists by the middle of this month.

DPWH-Davao Region Public Affairs and Information Officer Dean Ortiz said on Monday that the initial phase has been completed “substantially,” with just a few more finishing touches such as the asphalting and other minor works. The agency budgeted a total P2.6 billion for the “Bago Aplaya-Talomo section,” which runs from Barangay Bago Aplaya to Barangay Bucana.Before the scheduled opening, the official added that this road segment has already been attracting numerous joggers, bikers, and local residents who want to get a glimpse of the iconic Davao Gulf.

“The said road has caught the attention of Dabawenyos, as it has attracted droves of joggers, bikers and local tourists eager to see the beautiful scenery set before the majestic Davao Gulf,” he said.He added that the construction works have already reached the Times Beach area in Barangay Matina Aplaya.
