BANGUED, Abra – Police said the barangay elections in this province on Monday, October 30, was generally peaceful, except for an incident in Tineg on the eve of the polls.
Police Col. Froiland B. Lopez, Abra police director, said three police officers were immediately deployed as special Board of Election Inspectors to the polling center in Barangay Lapat Balantay after teachers who will serve as BEIs reportedly backed out after an alleged argument with a group of men in the area.
“Upon receiving a report that the assigned teacher BEIs did not want to serve anymore in that village, we brought our three police officers, who will serve as special BEIs, using a chopper and the election was smoothly and peacefully held,” Lopez said.related stories
