Calvin CordovaCEBU CITY – The death of a 14-year-old girl in Talisay City, Cebu was a case of accidental firing, police said.Evelyn Reponte, the victim’s mother, was disheartened to learn that the bullet that killed her daughter Jacauelyn came from the gun owned by her 21-year-old son Edwin Jr.To escape trouble, Edwin and his two neighbors came up with a concocted story, telling police investigators that a lone gunman broke into the house and shot the victim while she was learning her modules.
Jacauelyn’s older brother Edwin was also sitting on the bed at the time. Epream Paguyod, chief of the Talisay City police, said they have other witnesses and strong evidence to prove the liability of the two arrested persons and Edwin.Paguyod said what happened was an isolated case. “We consider it case closed,” said Paguyod.
