A motorist has captured a shocking video of a man car surfing on a busy Sydney road, as police begin inquiries into the incident.

Car surfing was made a punishable offence in 2004, after a parliamentary inquiry into the activity was passed.The inquiry described car surfing as “a dangerous activity of vehicle occupants that can cause severe injuries or death”. “Vehicle occupants ride on the bonnet, roof, or boot lid of moving cars, stand up and balance in the tray of utes, or hold to or are towed by vehicles while skateboarding or roller blading.”
