THE Philippine National Police has filed charges against Pilar, Abra Mayor Maro Somera and Vice Mayor Jaja Josefina Somera Disono, two local government employees and a househelp of the vice mayor in relation to the “shootout” on March 29, 2022, PNP Chief Dionardo Carlos said on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
He said charges for serious disobedience to an agent or a person in authority were filed against local government employees Robert Boreta Toreno, 27, and Emmanuel Nicanor Valera, 26; as well as Jericho Toreno Bufil, 29, helper of Disono.“The cases filed are the product of the evidence and testimonies that our police investigators were able to gather. Those involved individuals will be made to submit themselves to the judicial proceeding,” Carlos said.
Killed during the incident was Disono’s bodyguard, Sandee Boy Bermudo. Two policemen were also injured in the incident. In a press conference in Camp Crame, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año cited Disono’s blatant violations, particularly in the employment of a body guard amid the campaign period.
