The Philippine National Police on Monday said it is planning to have joint maritime operations with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Navy (PN) to secure Philippine waters from illegal activities.
In an ambush interview, PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said they want to sign a memorandum of understanding for the conduct of the joint maritime security operations.
“We wanted to have a memorandum of understanding na magsanib pwersa kami para sa pagse-secure natin sa mga karagatan natin ,” he said. Azurin added these operations would address contrabands and human trafficking of persons in the country. For Azurin, the joint operations of the PNP, PCG, and PN would maximize the presence of law enforcement in the territorial waters considering their limited number of assets.— RSJ, GMA Integrated News
