At least 13 people were rewarded with cash money after assisting the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the arrest of two leaders of the New People’s Army (NPA) and 11 other fugitives from the law.
PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. said a total of P11. 7 million were distributed to the tipsters in a ceremony held at Camp Crame in Quezon City as he emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining peace and order in the country.“The ceremony is a testament to the effectiveness of community involvement in addressing security threats and criminality across the country,” said Acorda.
Two of the wanted persons have a monetary reward of P5 million each and the two reward money were given to the informants. Acorda lauded the informants, who opted to wear appropriate attire and masks to safeguard their identities, for their courage and sense of responsibility toward ensuring the safety and well-being of their fellow citizens.
The grant of monetary rewards to individuals who actively contribute to the arrest or neutralization of most wanted criminals, is one of the PNP’s program not only incentivizes the public to take an active role in crime prevention but also strengthens the bond between law enforcement and the community, creating a robust network of support in the fight against crime.
Acorda also called on the public to remain vigilant and supportive in providing critical information underscores the crucial role every individual can play in upholding law and order in the Philippines.
