— Most of the 18 high-ranking police officers whose courtesy resignations were accepted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. continue to hold their positions pending clarification from Malacañang, the Philippine National Police said on Thursday.

The national police force said a meeting with Palace officials will be held this week to clarify what will happen to the 18 third-level officers. Fajardo noted that they have yet to receive an official copy of the document signed by the president [Translation: If you remember, there was a pronouncement before that once our resignations are accepted, we will be considered as optionally retired for purposes of receiving our retirement benefits. That's one of the things we're clarifying – what the status of the 18 is, and if it is confirmed they are the ones listed in the document signed by the president.]

The move was an offshoot of the 990-kilogram drug haul in Tondo, Manila last year in the warehouse owned by Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo.
