PLDT, Smart expand partnership with gov’t to improve connectivity

PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications Inc. said they are strengthening their partnership with the government to accelerate digital transformation and improve

internet connectivity nationwide.

Anti-Red Tape Authority Secretary Ernesto Perez lauded the partnerships between government and industry stakeholders as vital to the “full eradication of bureaucratic red tape and to the dawn of a new and prosperous Philippines.” Perez said that a year after its implementation, EO 32 reduced the time required to energize a telco tower to just 59 days, and driven a significant increase in the number of permits approved by local government units, which increased by 48 percent between May 2022 and May 2024.
