PLDT High Speed Hitters secured a dominant 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 victory over Farm Fresh Foxies in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena on Tuesday. Savi Davison led the charge with a 26-point performance, her third consecutive 20-plus point outing, showcasing her offensive prowess with powerful spikes, well-placed off-speed shots, and smart plays at the net.
The High Speed Hitters' win improved their record to 6-3, placing them in solo third spot in the standings behind unbeaten Creamline Cool Smashers (7-0) and Petro Gazz Angels (6-1). Meanwhile, the Foxies dropped to 4-5, remaining at ninth place.Rookie setter Angge Alcantara provided a spark for PLDT with 12 excellent sets and four points, including consecutive 1-2 plays in the opening set, building strong chemistry with Davison, who contributed six excellent receptions. Mika Reyes also played a crucial role with 10 points and aggressive slide and quick attacks that helped break a tight 14-14 deadlock in the third set. PLDT's offense outgunned Farm Fresh 52-31, and they doubled their block output with eight, showcasing their defensive strength.Farm Fresh struggled offensively, particularly Trisha Tubu, who could only manage nine points after a career-high 33-point performance against Galeries Tower. Coach Benson Bocboc experimented with new combinations in an attempt to counter PLDT's well-oiled offense and sturdy defense. Caitlin Viray finished with six points, while Lorene Toring added five. Jolina Dela Cruz, Rizza Cruz, and Rachel Ann Daquis, slowly regaining her form, contributed four points each for the Foxies. With the knockout phase approaching, every win is crucial for playoff seeding. PLDT now enjoys a much-needed break before facing defending champions Creamline on February 15 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo – a critical matchup that could shape their playoff run. The High Speed Hitters will then wrap up the prelims against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on February 22 at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo. Meanwhile, Farm Fresh faces a tough challenge in their remaining schedule, beginning with a clash against Creamline on February 11 at Philsports Arena, followed by a meeting with Capital1 Solar Spikers on February 18
