Pinoys staying put during COVID19 lockdown, Google data show
MANILA--Filipinos have cut down on trips to many places since Luzon and other parts of the country were put under enhanced community quarantine to slow down the spread of COVID-19, Google data showed.
Pinoys have also reduced trips to bus terminals and train stations by 82 percent, and workplaces by 54 percent. Pinoys have also slashed trips to national parks, public beaches, marinas, dog parks, plazas, and public gardens by 59 percent.Google said it compared the quarantine period to the 5-week period from Jan. 3 to Feb. 6 this year.
“These reports use differential privacy, which adds artificial noise to our datasets enabling high quality results without identifying any individual person.”
