A man aged in his 40s has died after a light plane crash in Western Australia near the South Australian border. 7NEWS
“The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft, a male in his 40s, died as a result of the crash,” WA Police said in a statement.Caiguna is about 350 kilometres west of the WA-SA border.
Emergency services had earlier raced to the remote area but only confirmed details surrounding the crash about 3.30pm Friday. The Australian Safety Transport Bureau told 7NEWS.com.au the plane involved was an amateur-built Jabiru recreational category aircraft. The bureau said it would not investigate this crash because it does not probe recreational aircraft accidents.
