A PIG farmer who always carried a firearm while attending cockfighting events was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Cebu Provincial Field Unit at 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Sitio Pit-os, Barangay Lantawan, San Fernando, Cebu.The suspect was identified as Leo Laguna Quijano, 20.Recovered from his possession were a .45 caliber pistol with five live rounds and a sling bag containing five bullets for .38 revolver.
The operation was conducted based on a search warrant issued on December 5, 2024, by Judge Joy Redoble of Regional Trial Court, Branch 77, Carcar City, Cebu.According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Korret, chief of CIDG Cebu Provincial Field Unit, Quijano is a farmer and raises pigs in their barangay.Quijano explained that he carried the weapon for self-defense, claiming he needed protection from thieves who might steal his livestock or crops.
