Bhargava, who came to Ottawa seven months ago from Saskatchewan, lives near the intersection of Nicholas and Waller streets and rides a bike to her Cooper Street clinic. She experiences the effect of air pollution first-hand, but she also sees it in her patients. Dr. Sehjal Bhargava is one of a group of doctors with Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment who have lodged a complaint about the health effects from air pollution from trucks in downtown Ottawa.The city could, for example, establish permanent air quality monitoring sites and temporarily reroute trucks when air pollution reaches hazardous levels, she said.
