The family is suing after her death at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on New Year's Eve. - Aaron BeswickA lawsuit has been filed against the Nova Scotia Health Authority and one of its emergency room physicians, Dr. John Atia, on behalf of the husband and children of Allison Holthoff.
While Holthoff ended up on the floor, covered in blankets provided by security guards, she received little to no attention from nursing staff. It was then that she was taken into an observation room, finally seen by Atia, put on an I.V. and given analgesic. “Ruptures and dissections are medical emergencies that require immediate care and can be life-threatening.”
