The Phoenix Fuel Masters secured their first victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup while simultaneously handing the NorthPort Batang Pier their first loss of the conference. The Fuel Masters triumphed over the Batang Pier with a score of 115-109 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Tuesday, December 17. Phoenix import Donovan Smith played a pivotal role in the win, contributing 32 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.
Smith’s crucial free throws in the closing minutes sealed the victory for Phoenix. Jason Perkins also shone for Phoenix, scoring 24 points. NorthPort’s import, Kadeem Jack, led the scoring for the Batang Pier with 28 points and 16 rebounds, while Arvin Tolentino added 23 points. The Converge FiberXers also secured a win in a separate match, defeating the NLEX Road Warriors 102-91. Converge’s import, Cheick Diallo, bounced back from a low-scoring previous game with an impressive 37 points and 18 rebounds
