THE cream of the crop of the country’s female combat athletes will see action in the Philippine Sports Commission’s eighth Women’s Martial Arts Festival starting Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Jiah Pingot, who bagged silver medals in 2019 and 2021 SEA Games, and is currently the national, is also joining the wrestling competition. “We’re very excited to gather our top Filipina athletes in one event. It will be a great feeling to watch them perform live in our own turf,” PSC oversight Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo said.

Eleven sports will be played in the event ending November 17—regular sports pencak silat, wrestling, sambo, taekwondo, muay Thai, kickboxing, karate, jiu-jitsu and kurash, and demonstration sports arnis and judo.
