Asked what Asean country signified its commitment for the TSPs, the BuCor chief said, “I think all the Asean are willing because we are brothers, we want to develop that camaraderie, oneness, togetherness, and we are all similarly situated.” Besides the TSP issue, the conference tackled best practices in decongestion strategies, prison health programs, aftercare and reintegration initiatives, and measures to prevent and counter violent extremism, parole and probation.
There are 414 foreign nationals currently incarcerated in various jails in the country awaiting the resolution of their cases—30 of them from Asean countries.
