The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said Monday it is considering to recommend the evacuation of residents beyond the six-kilometer radius of Mayon Volcano’s Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ).

With this, Bacolcol said PHIVOLCS may suggest evacuating all people living within the 7-kilometer radius of Mayon Volcano, depending on their monitoring of the volcano’s activities. Bacolcol also stressed that PHIVOLCS will not raise Mayon Volcano’s alert status to Alert Level 4 “for now.”
