Perigee Aerospace , a leading Korean space mobility company, has formally launched a “Know How Transfer and TrainingProgram on Small Launch Vehicle with the Philippine Space Agency — marking a significant milestone in the Philippines’ roadmap toward developing an indigenous launch capability through international cooperation.

The initiative commenced with a two-day technical workshop in Quezon City on October 9 and 10, signaling the start of a multi-stage capacity-building roadmap. This is followed by a training in Korea where PhilSA engineers undergo a hands-on subsystem assembly and theoretical rocketry training using Perigee’s proven Blue Whale 0.1 sounding rocket platform — the same model that has previously demonstrated successful flights from Jeju, South Korea.Aligned with national priorities that emphasize transparency, measurable outcomes, and high impact innovation, the initial phase of the program delivers visible technical outputs while laying the groundwork for the future — envisioned to include localized assembly, testing, and operations in the Philippines. This trajectory moves the collaboration beyond theoretical study to practical technology demonstration, aligning directly with national strategies for industrial innovation, sovereign capability, and international cooperation. The initiative also underscores PhilSA’s commitment to sustainable space workforce development while positioning Perigee as both a technical enabler and long-term commercial partner in the country’s growing space ecosystem. Drawing on its experience from Korea’s own small launch development, Perigee brings practical insights from real-world test launches, regulatory navigation, and ecosystem development—all key to ensuring the Philippines’ readiness for future local launch operations. As the program progresses, both institutions aim to generate integral insights for spaceport development, regional cooperation, and future industrial partnerships. This represents the Philippines’ first structured entry into launch vehicle technology training, a step that positions the nation to evolve from space service consumer to regional contributor, and Perigee from service provider to ecosystem co-contributor.
