The Philippine government is allocating a significant sum to modernize several airports, aiming to improve air travel, attract tourism, and boost economic growth.
The Philippine government will allocate a total of P7.7 billion for the modernization of 15 airports this year, according to Makati City 2nd district Rep. Luis Campos Jr. who spoke on Wednesday, January 8. Campos, a vice chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, stated, 'We are counting on these upgrades to enhance the overall air travel experience for passengers, attract more tourists, support the growth of small businesses, and create new jobs.
' Campos detailed the 15 airports and their respective allocations under the Aviation Infrastructure Program in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA). The P6.352-trillion 2025 GAA, the largest national budget in the country's history, was signed by President Marcos on December 30. Campos is a candidate for Makati mayor in the May 12 mid-term elections, while his wife is running for a Senate seat. Aviation infrastructure funds are primarily used to construct, rehabilitate, and improve runways, taxiways, ramps, control towers, passenger terminals, and/or acquire navigational equipment
