Philippines has yet to reach COVID19 peak, says gov't task force

MANILA -- Three weeks since the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, the Philippines has yet to reach the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the National Task Force against COVID-19, citing studies conducted by the University of the Philippines and John Hopkins University.

The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine plans to ramp up the processing of COVID-19 tests to 10,000 a day, and is preparing to distribute 900,000 test kits. Padilla said the RITM has so far distributed 300,000 testing kits to accredited testing centers around the country. Padilla also stressed the vital role of local government units in flattening the COVID-19 curve, citing Baguio City as an example.
