The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines has revised its guidelines for declaring class and work suspensions in public schools during adverse weather conditions, earthquakes, and other emergencies. DepEd Order No. 22, signed on December 23rd and released on December 27th, aims to prioritize the safety of learners, teachers, and non-teaching personnel while ensuring continuous learning. The order applies to all public schools and DepEd-run Community Learning Centers.
While private schools, private ALS providers, and basic education units of state/local universities and colleges are not mandated to follow these guidelines, they are encouraged to adopt them. Signal No. 1 automatically suspends preschool classes
