Philippine Vice President Denounces Ominous Claims About President's Safety
PhilippinesSara DuterteFerdinand Marcos Jr.

Sara Duterte, Vice President of the Philippines, has criticized recent claims suggesting an active threat to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s life. She stated that the administration's narrative has been misinterpreted and that there is no real evidence to support these claims. Duterte also highlighted the 'diametric contrast' in the government's response to threats against her and her staff.

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte described the insistence that the President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. 's life is under active threat as 'ominous.'In a statement issued on Tuesday, Duterte added that the administration sold its narrative based on her statement that she hired someone to kill Marcos, first Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez if she gets killed, which she described as 'taken out of logical context.

' 'There is absolutely no flesh on the bone, and despite the absence of a reliable investigation, authorities were quick to consider this a national security concern,' Duterte said. She added that there was a 'diametric contrast' and 'inaction' that was displayed when she expressed in previous months that there were threats to her and continuing threats to the life of personnel of the Office of the Vice President. She also said that adding the word 'assassin' has made things more terrifying as she said that she never used the term in her press briefing against what she described as the Marcos administration's 'failure to serve the Filipinos while it masterfully persecutes political enemies.''Common sense should be enough for us to understand and accept that a supposed conditional act of revenge does not constitute an active threat. This is a plan without a flesh,' Duterte reiterated. She said that she was confident that an 'honest scrutiny' would expose the narrative to be a 'farce, imagined, or nothing at all,'In a press briefing at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon, Duterte asked the administration if a 'revenge from the grave' constituted a crime.'I have to die first, they have to kill me first so now they can't kill me anymore, unless they want to die. Remember, they are known for political persecution, and then somebody was assassinated in the airport tarmac,' Duterte said, referring to the assassination of former senator Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino in 1983.She also said that she was ready to share a list of proofs that the 'whole of government' is going after her.Duterte also said that she has yet to see the subpoena that the National Bureau of Investigation has sent to her and refrained from commenting about it as she has yet to read the subpoena.Meanwhile, Duterte said that her chief of staff, lawyer Zuleika Lopez, intended to file a legal pleading regarding the contempt order that was given to her by the House Blue Ribbon Committee. She also said that the OVP's Special Disbursing Officer, Gina Acosta, has now responded after being unconscious during the hearing of the panel due to high blood pressure, where a CT-Scan was also conducted to check if she had a stroke.
