The Philippines once again showcased its academic prowess on the global stage, securing a remarkable 100 percent medal haul at the 6th Copernicus International Science Olympiad held in Houston, Texas, from January 5-10, 2025. The Philippine delegation, comprising some of the nation's brightest young minds, competed against the best young scientific talent worldwide and proudly returned home with two gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals.

This achievement stands as a testament to the Philippines' exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to science and education.The gold medalists were Rjian Felminia Acevedo, a Grade 10 student, and John Hermes Mariñas, a Grade 5 student, who both demonstrated outstanding proficiency in their respective fields. Iwen Sabio Manaba, a Grade 11 student, secured a silver medal, while Jaymee Kristen Concha, a Grade 9 student, and Richmarth Duke Bad-Ang and Marquis Xavier Zamuco, both Grade 12 students, earned bronze medals, rounding out the team's extraordinary performance.The Olympiad commenced at the Cullen Theater at the University of Houston, with competitions taking place at Rice University. In addition to the rigorous academic challenges, participants were given an inspiring educational visit to the NASA Space Center, further fueling their aspirations to excel in science and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries. Adding to the celebration, Consul General Gunther Emil Sales of the Philippine Consulate General in Houston graced the awarding ceremony held at Hilton Houston on January 9, 2025, to offer his heartfelt support to the Philippine team. His presence underscored the significance of their achievement in representing the Philippines with distinction on the international stage. Guided by their country coordinator, Engr. Elizabeth Rodriguez, the Philippine team shone brightly in this prestigious Olympiad, which fosters creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students from Grades 3 to 12 in diverse disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Natural Sciences, Astronomy, Cyber Security, and Film
