The Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA) reaffirmed its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by incorporating them into its members' social development and management programs (SDMP). The group highlighted its members' investments in environmental protection, community well-being, and inclusive development, particularly focusing on SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The PNIA also emphasized the importance of collaboration with local communities to ensure the effective use of SDMP funds and maximize the impact of resources in achieving national and local SDG targets.
THE Philippine Nickel Industry Association in a statement acknowledged the importance of a new administrative order from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources , which requires mining companies to adapt the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals in their respective social development and management programs .In 2024, the PNIA released a follow-up to its first SDG report published in 2020.
