Philippine National Police Reports Decrease in Crimes and Intensifies Anti-Crime Efforts

The Philippine National Police announced a decrease in reported crimes over the past three months highlighting reduced index and focus crime rates. They also reported significant drug busts and increased efforts to address administrative concerns within the force under the leadership of Acting PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

The Philippine National Police PNP announced on Saturday a significant decline in reported crime rates across the nation over the recent three-month period. In an official statement the PNP highlighted substantial reductions in both index crimes and focus crimes reflecting a positive trend in law enforcement effectiveness. Specifically index crimes experienced a notable decrease of 13.96%.

This translates to a drop from 6961 recorded cases spanning from July 2025 to August 25 2025 down to 5989 cases documented between August 26 and October 30 2025. This downward trajectory demonstrates an improvement in the overall safety and security landscape. Furthermore a parallel decline was observed in focus crimes experiencing a 14.01% reduction within the same comparative timeframe. The number of focus crime cases fell from 6931 to 5960 signifying a comprehensive impact on various types of criminal activities.\Simultaneously the PNP intensified its efforts in combating illegal activities particularly in the realm of illegal drugs. From August 26 to October 30 2025 the PNP conducted a total of 9061 anti illegal drug operations. These operations resulted in the arrest of a substantial 10434 individuals. Moreover significant quantities of contraband were seized with an estimated value of P1.91 billion. This proactive approach underscores the PNPs commitment to eradicating the drug menace and maintaining public order. The PNP has also reported other notable accomplishments in its crime prevention efforts. This includes 11500 arrests or surrenders which further contribute to crime reduction. In addition the PNP confiscated 5600 loose firearms mitigating the potential for violence and ensuring public safety. The authorities also seized P2.86 million worth of gambling paraphernalia and P337.8 million worth of smuggled goods showcasing the PNPs commitment to tackling various forms of illicit activities. The dedication to rooting out corruption and ensuring ethical conduct within the force remains a key priority.\The leadership of the PNP underwent a transition on August 26 with Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. assuming the role of acting PNP chief. Under his leadership the PNP is focused on building a police service worthy of the public's trust. 'What we are building is not only a stronger police force but a police service worthy of the confidence of the Filipino people' Nartatez stated. Furthermore the PNP has taken strong measures to address administrative concerns within its ranks. A total of 335 administrative cases involving 569 personnel were resolved during the reported period. Nartatez emphasized the PNPs zero tolerance policy towards corruption and any actions that undermine public trust. 'There is no place in the Bagong PNP for police officers who betray the badge. Our policy is firm zero tolerance for corruption abuse or any act that undermines public trust. We will not hesitate to remove anyone who dishonors the uniform' he affirmed. This commitment to upholding ethical standards and accountability is crucial to fostering public confidence and maintaining the integrity of the PNP.
