South Korea's 2025 Economic Policy Directions outline revised tariff rates and import quotas for 10 fruit types, including bananas, pineapples, mangoes, grapefruits, avocados, and mangosteens. These fruits will be exported to South Korea duty-free from January to June 2025. The policy aims to support livelihoods and address rising living costs due to inflation.

PHILIPPINE bananas, pineapples, mangoes, grapefruits, avocados and mangosteens may be exported to South Korea duty-free in the first half of 2025, according to South Korea ’s 2025 Economic Policy Directions.

The policy direction outlines four key pillars: supporting the recovery of people’s livelihoods; managing external creditworthiness; reacting to vagueness in the international trade environment, and increasing industrial competitiveness, the DTI-EMB official also noted. Meanwhile, oranges, which are not covered under the Philippines-Korea Free Trade Agreement will benefit from a tariff reduction exclusively during January and February 2025.

Mangosteen, which has a 20.8-percent tariff rate under the PH-KR FTA, will also be exported to South Korea at zero tariffs in the January to June 2025.
